In the fast-evolving healthcare landscape, the search for top-notch physical therapists can be akin to finding a needle in a haystack. Harder still is the search for the "right" physical therapist, occupational therapist, hand therapist, chiropractor, or physical trainer for each patient.

PhysMed DB streamlines the search process, using technology to bridge the gap between medical professionals and physical treatment specialists.

Technology Will Transform Healthcare

Embracing cutting-edge technology is no longer a choice but a necessity in the healthcare sector. As doctors strive to provide the highest quality care for their patients, they are looking to extend patient care beyond their office walls. However, despite the best intentions, doctors have budget, time and resource constraints. Technology is the only scalable solution to challenge the status quo.

What Is The Status Quo?

There's a wide gap between patient expectations and reality.

Patients with physical injuries expect to be seen by a doctor who evaluates their condition and recommends the best next step in their care journey. In the case of a physical therapy referral, a patient expects the doctor to personalize it based on the patient's age, gender, fitness or athletic pursuits, and injury type. Ideally, the referral would also take into account the patient's preferred location, near a home or office.

The reality is that orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists, primary care and other physicians focus on delivering high quality care to their patients in clinic or in surgery settings. Most doctors do not have the time, nor the resources, to prioritize building and maintaining their physical therapy, chiropractor and physical trainer networks. So when doctors refer patients to physical therapy or share fitness recommendations, they often offer no guidance on which physical therapist the patient should see, why they should see them, where they are located, or how to contact them. Even the best doctors offer limited guidance, usually in the form of a standard list of therapist names with out of date contact information.

It is not scalable for doctors to regularly meet with physical treatment specialists locally (and impossible nationally), update their database as therapist information or contact information changes, and curate a shortlist of recommendations for each patient.

The Search for Excellence

PhysMed DB gives physicians an alternative to the status quo and revolutionizes the way doctors connect patients with physical treatment specialists. Our digital platform allows doctors to identify the specialist who not only possesses the required expertise but also aligns with their patient's needs and preferences.

We believe better referrals start with better data. So how does PhysMed DB get the data and deliver a better shortlist?

  1. Our user-friendly website landing page features a direct link to a survey that gathers valuable information about physical therapists, chiropractors, and physical trainers visiting our website. They can update or enrich their profile information at any time.

  2. We combine our database of provider information with any patient data points that a medical professional elects to share with us. Physicians typically share basic patient data such as age, gender, type of injury, fitness or athletic characteristics, and location preferences. There is never any transfer of Protected Health Information.

  3. PhysMed DB uses intelligent algorithms to match patients' specific requirements with therapists who specialize in the relevant areas. The end-product is a white-labeled shortlist of 1-3 recommendations of "best-fit" providers that a physician can present directly to the patient.

A Bright Future Ahead

As we embrace the digital era, the synergy between technology and healthcare continues to redefine the landscape of patient care. By equipping doctors with targeted physical therapy and other specialist recommendations for each patient, PhysMed DB powers easy-to-use technology that paves the way for a future where quality healthcare is not only accessible but also personalized to meet the unique needs of every individual.
